The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 2.0, 3.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Works, when objects are created within other objects in the draw layer, text entered in the Word Processor may cause some of the objects to move while others remain stationary.

Draw objects are oriented to the top-left pixel of the text line in which the top edge of the object is located. When this text line moves, the object moves accordingly.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by the method Works uses to link objects to lines of text in the Word Processor.

WORKAROUND

Multiple objects can be grouped, allowing them to be treated as one object. If you group objects, they move together.

To group objects while in the draw layer, do the following:

  1. Hold down the SHIFT key and select each object that will be in the group, or drag a selection box across the screen to encompass the objects.
  2. For Works 2.0, choose Group Picture from the Format menu. For Works 3.0, choose Group from the Arrange menu.
