Excel: Transferring Files Between MacDraw, MacDraw II & Excel

Exporting MacDraw or MacDraw II Files to Microsoft Excel

Export Format: Text

Only straight text will export from MacDraw or MacDraw II to Microsoft Excel. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Select the text to be exported. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
  2. Paste the text into Microsoft Excel.

Exporting Microsoft Excel Files to MacDraw or MacDraw II

Export Format: PICT Bitmap

To export charts from Microsoft Excel versions 1.5 and 2.2 to MacDraw to MacDraw II, do the following:

  1. Select the chart by choosing it in Microsoft Excel.
  2. In Microsoft Excel 1.50, choose Copy Chart from the Edit menu. In Microsoft Excel 2.20, hold down the SHIFT key and select Copy Picture.
  3. Paste the chart into MacDraw or MacDraw II.

Note: Copying a chart using Copy Picture in Microsoft Excel 2.20 is equivalent to choosing Copy Chart in Microsoft Excel 1.50. By holding down the SHIFT key while choosing Copy Picture from the Edit menu, you can copy a chart or section of a worksheet as a graphic to the Clipboard. A dialog box will appear with the options to copy the picture as it is shown on the screen or as it appears when it is printed.
