The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for MS-DOS, versions 1.0, 1.05, 2.0, and 3.0

SUMMARY

If you attempt to simultaneously load the same file twice in Microsoft Works for MS-DOS, the following message is displayed:

File already open: opening again erases changes since last save

Works allows you to open up to eight files at once. However, because to MS-DOS file handling, once you have edited an open file, you cannot load that same file again while the edited version is still open. This rule applies even if the files are being loaded from two different locations (that is, one is on a floppy disk and one is on the hard drive) and even if the files have the same filename but different data.

If you choose OK after receiving the above message, Works closes the existing file and erases the current changes.
