SUMMARY
It is not possible to print characters in italic on the Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet with any printer driver unless the A cartridge is used.
The DeskJet does not support italic on the internal Courier font. The A cartridge provides this support. Italic is supported on the internal Courier font with the HP DeskJet Plus or HP DeskJet 500 and prints correctly with any driver.
