Excel: Troubles Printing Color with Mac II, SE/30 or Higher

Last reviewed: October 31, 1994
Article ID: Q50982

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 2.2, 3.0

SUMMARY

It is not possible to print in color from Microsoft Excel version 2.20 or 3.00 to a color printer, other than the ImageWriter, from a Macintosh SE/30, Macintosh II, Macintosh IIx, Macintosh IIcx, or Macintosh IIci if the screen display is set to two-color (black and white) mode.

Microsoft Excel attempts to use a Color GrafPort for printing in color. However, Microsoft Excel uses the same bit depth/color setting as the screen display, so the printout will also appear in black and white if the machine is connected to a black-and-white monitor.

Microsoft Excel 2.20 prints in color from the following machines:

  1. A Macintosh SE or Macintosh Plus
  2. A Macintosh SE/30 or Macintosh II series computer that is connected to a color monitor and displaying color
