Summary:

In Microsoft Word for Windows, you can only split cells that were previously merged. Only one cell in a row can be split at a time. Multiple cells can be split at the same time if the cells are in different rows.

More Information:

To split cells, use the the following procedure:

Word for Windows Version 2.0

  1. Select only cells that have been previously merged.
  2. From the Table menu, choose Split Cells.

Word for Windows Version 1.x

  1. Select only cells that have been previously merged.
  2. From the Edit menu, choose Table (ALT E A).
  3. Choose the Split Cells button (ALT+P).
