Excel: SHIFT+BACKSPACE Functions the Same as ENTER Key

Last reviewed: November 2, 1994
Article ID: Q50511

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, when you are entering data into a cell while holding down the SHIFT key, pressing the BACKSPACE or DELETE key causes the data to be entered into the cell, rather than backing up over the last character. Releasing the SHIFT key allows the BACKSPACE or DELETE key to function normally.
