SUMMARY
Works normally maintains a personal dictionary file for each user in the user’s directory. Works creates the personal dictionary automatically the first time a new word is added during spell checking. Works names each user’s personal dictionary file PERSONAL.DIC and places it in the user directory.
The main dictionary, MAIN.DIC, is located in the Works program directory and can be used simultaneously by any number of users. If a dictionary other than MAIN.DIC (for example, a medical dictionary) must be shared by multiple users, the network administrator should add the necessary terms to a user dictionary (PERSONAL.DIC), copy it to the program directory on the network server, and flag the file as sharable, read-only using the DOS Attrib command. In this configuration, the ADD option that appears during spell checking is disabled.
