MS-DOS

SUMMARY

If you are attempting to run any version of Microsoft Works, and have installed a NEC VGB Video Graphics Board, you will not receive a text cursor. This problem is due to a faulty cursor emulation routine in the Video ROM BIOS on the NEC graphics board.

This problem does not occur when operating Works version 2.00 in graphics mode.

NEC has a memory resident (TSR) patch available to address this problem. This patch does not address the same type of problem occurring on the NEC Powermate 286 Plus that has VGA support built onto its motherboard. The Powermate problem must be addressed by an upgrade to the Video ROM BIOS itself.

Contact NEC product support at (508) 264-4300 for further assistance.
