SUMMARY

If you create a document in Word versions 3.x, 4.0, or 5.0 using the Side-By-Side Paragraphs feature, you can edit only the rightmost column in the Page View of Word 4.0 (Page Layout View in Word 5.0).

When using side-by-side paragraphs in Page View and Page Layout View, each column is essentially laid on top of the column to the left of it. Since they are laid on top of each other, you cannot edit in any of the “lower” columns. This is a limitation of Page View and Page Layout View.

For editing side-by-side columns, use Galley View.
