The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for Windows, version 5.0 on the following platforms: MS-DOS ——————————————————————————-

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word for DOS version 5.0, if you use some of the Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet printer drivers, a “Divide overflow” system error message may appear, and the system may stop responding (hang).

The problem is most likely to occur if the Format Division “line-numbers:” field is set to Yes, or the Format Paragraph “line spacing:” field has been changed from “1 li”. Using the TTY printer driver for a test print verifies whether this is the case.

STATUS

This problem was corrected in the revised HP DeskJet printer drivers available on the Supplemental Printer Kit for Microsoft Word for DOS version 5.5b.
