- Microsoft Project for Windows, versions 1.0, 3.0, 3.0a, 4.0

SUMMARY

The Microsoft Project for Windows “Expand All” key combination, ALT+SHIFT+, does not work on an HP Vectra machine. This is because on this particular keyboard, SHIFT+ is assigned to the Print Screen function. The machine BIOS never allows an application “see” this keyboard event.

This is a hardware limitation of HP Vectra machines.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. Start Microsoft Project for Windows on an HP Vectra.
  2. Enter six tasks. Make three of these tasks summary tasks.
  3. Collapse each summary task with ALT+SHIFT+ - (minus on the numeric keypad).
  4. Expand all tasks with ALT+SHIFT+* (on the numeric keypad).
