SUMMARY

When trying to shade an area defined by the variable wp<math display="inline">box with the PostScript commands [setgrey] and [fill], a shaded box the size of wp</math>box will print offset to the lower right of the area intended if you are using LaserWriter driver version 5.2 with Background Printing turned on. To turn off Background printing do the following:

  1. From the Apple menu, choose Chooser.
  2. Click the LaserWriter icon.
  3. Click the off option button next to the words Background Printing.

The offset occurs regardless of whether the area in being defined with .para. or .cell.. This problem does not occur with LaserWriter driver version 6.0.

For more information on shading an area using PostScript, query in this Knowledge Base on the following words:

m.wd and postscript and wp$box

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
