Pasting Annotation Mark Replaces Intitials with Zero

Article ID: Q48999
Creation Date: 22-SEP-1989
Revision Date: 09-SEP-1996 The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for Windows versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

The only valid area for an annotation mark is the annotation pane within the parent document. If you try to cut an annotation mark from the document and paste it into an area that does not allow annotations, such as the footnote pane, a header, or a footer, the initials in the annotation brackets are reevaluated to [0].

Note: The author is the only one allowed to make changes to the document if you select the Lock for Annotation option using the File Save As command.
