“Error Reading Device LPTx” on a Novell Nondedicated Server

SUMMARY
When attempting to print from any network version of Word to a network printer attached to a Novell nondedicated server, you may receive the error message “Error in reading device LPTX:”, where LPTX refers to the redirected printer port being accessed (for example, LPT1, LPT2, or LPT3).
To print through a nondedicated server, you must obtain a patch called PRFIX.COM. The patch can be downloaded from Novell’s Netwire Forum on CompuServe. The file is located in Novell Software Library #3 and is archived as PRFIX.ARC. If you have other questions about this problem, contact Novell Technical Support at 1-800-NETWARE (1-800-638-9273).
