Excel: Adding Multiple Lines of Attached Text to Chart

SUMMARY

Multiple lines of attached text can be added to the chart title, value axis, category axis, and series or data points in Microsoft Excel charts.

To add multiple lines of attached text to charts created in Excel version 2.20 or later, do the following:

  1. From the Chart menu, choose Attach Text.
  2. Click the desired position of the attached text (that is, chart title, value axis, category axis, or series or data point).
  3. Type in the desired text, pressing COMMAND+RETURN at the end of each line.
  4. Press ENTER, or click the check mark to enter the attached text.

To add multiple lines of attached text to charts created in Excel versions 1.03, 1.04, and 1.50, do the following:

  1. From the Chart menu, choose Attach Text.
  2. Click the desired position of the attached text (that is, chart title, value axis, category axis, or series or data point).
  3. Type in the desired text, pressing RETURN at the end of each line.
  4. Press ENTER, or click the check mark to enter the attached text.
