SUMMARY

CALENDAR.MPC is the default calendar file for Project for Windows. It is automatically opened if no other calendar file is specified.

There are five ways to open an alternate calendar file:

  1. When you start Project from DOS, type the following:

    WINPROJ <calfile> <viewfile> <projfile>

  2. Have the WINPROJ.INI file load the calendar file automatically. In the WINPROJ.INI on the OPEN line, enter the calendar file name as follows:

    OPEN=<calfile> <viewfile> <projfile>

  3. Open the calendar file as part of a workspace. Open all the projects and other project-related files, such as a calendar or view file, that you want listed in the workspace by doing the following:

    1. Choose File Save Workspace to save.

    2. Choose File Open and select the applicable MPW file to reopen the files.

  4. Change calendars with a project open.

    When you open another calendar file, the existing calendar file will prompt you to save changes if the current calendar is not the default base calendar or if Calendar File setting in Options, Preferences is set to Prompt or Don’t Save. Choose File Open and select the calendar file. You should open the calendar file before the related project, or the Standard calendar will be substituted in your project.

  5. Change calendars with a project open.

    When you open another calendar file, the existing calendar file will prompt to save changes, if applicable, and then close. Choose Options Base Calendars and use the Open command.

MORE INFORMATION

Replace <calfile> in these examples with the full name of the calendar file to be opened, replace <viewfile> with the view to be opened, and replace <projfile> with the name of the project to be opened at startup. Whether or not to open each file type is optional. However, it is important that the project file be opened last.
