Using the SKIP Instruction with Word 5.00

SUMMARY

On Page 335, the “Using Microsoft Word” Version 5.00 manual states that the SKIP instruction will cancel the current record. The SKIP instruction cancels the current record, and it will also cancel the current page.

When Word encounters a SKIP instruction during a print merge, all the record information from records that previously had been formatted for the current page will be lost. Word then starts formatting a new page with the next record in the data document. If each page that Word formats during a print merge contains a record that is skipped, all formatted pages will be canceled and Word will not produce any output.

Note: The SKIP instruction is not useful when printing mailing labels on a sheet-feed printer.
