Lines with Bold Text Don’t Align on PostScript Printers

SUMMARY

When using Microsoft Word versions 4.0 and 5.0 with some PostScript printers, lines containing bold proportionally spaced text may not align with the right margin.

This problem occurs because there are separate width tables for normal and bold text. Word Versions 4.00 and 5.00 does not take this into account when computing the length of a line. Therefore, bold text may extend beyond the margin.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information as it becomes available.
