SUMMARY

When correcting a document’s spelling, the Microsoft Works spelling checker may come up with the same word more than once when you query for suggestions. For example, if “holiday” is misspelled as “holliday”, Works provides the suggestions “holiday” and “holiday”, both spelled the same way.

In the above example, the Works spelling checker first removes the double consonant and gives the spelling “holiday”, then replaces a key vowel with another one (in this example, only one vowel is replaced), and then comes up with the spelling “holiday” again.

Working Software, the maker of the Works dictionary, has indicated that a future version of its spelling checker will filter out these extra words.
