SUMMARY
Mouse indexing is the ability to jump to approximate locations within a document by placing the mouse pointer on the left border and clicking both buttons at the same time. This causes the displayed text to jump to a location relative to the position of the mouse cursor in the border.
Word looks at the left border as if it were a scale model of the length of the document. Placing the mouse pointer at the top of the scale and clicking both mouse buttons moves you to the top of the text. Clicking at the bottom of the scale moves you to the bottom of the text. Positioning the cursor one-third of the way down the bar moves to a position one-third of the way through the document, etc.
