SUMMARY

Word has the ability to break a division and start on an even or an odd-numbered page. This option is set up in the “division break:” field of the Format Division Layout command.

If “division break:” is set to “Even”, Word starts the division on an even-numbered page (a blank page is left if necessary).

If “division break:” is set to “Odd”, Word starts the division on an odd-numbered page (a blank page is left if necessary).

The blank pages are completely blank. Word does not put running-heads or page numbers on blank pages created to provide for an odd or even division break. To demonstrate, do the following:

  1. Load a document that is several pages in length.
  2. Enter a division break after an odd-numbered page.
  3. In Format Division Layout, set “division break:” to “Odd”.
  4. Enter a running-head to print on all pages in both divisions.
  5. Go to Print preView.

There will be a completely blank page between the two divisions.
