- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, version 2.0

SUMMARY

When Microsoft Works version 2.00 is run over a network, only one person at a time can access the Works dictionary when performing a spelling check.

The Works dictionary has both read and write privileges. When words are added to the dictionary, they are actually saved within Works’ main dictionary, titled “MSWorksDict”. Two users CANNOT write to the same document over a network at the same time. Therefore, Works does not allow more than one user to access to its dictionary at a time.

Other programs, such as Microsoft Works 3.0, allow their main dictionaries to be multi-launched because additions are made to separate files.

For more information on spell checking, see pages 121-125 of the “Using Microsoft Works” version 2.0 manual.
