The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 2.0

SUMMARY

Choosing the Print Merge command (from the File menu) in the Microsoft Works version 2.0 Word Processor module can generate the following message:

One or more of the merged fields you have selected are not on the desktop, or have been deleted.

You must click OK, and the merge is stopped. This message appears when the Multiple Labels option has been selected and there are not enough records available from the database to fill across the top row.

For example, a Word Processor document may be formatted to print 30 labels in three columns. You might want to use the record selection feature of the Database module to narrow down the number of records merged to just a few. If three records are selected, then merge works as desired. However, if only one or two records are selected, the top row will be incomplete, and the above message will interrupt the merge.

WORKAROUND

A workaround is to add enough extra records to fill out the first row. One or more blank records can be added to a very small database.
