SUMMARY

Running-head formatting cannot be removed from text while Word is in Show Layout mode. While in Show Layout mode, Word does not display running-head text. As a result, the text cannot be selected to remove the running-head formatting with the Format Running-head command.

To remove a running head, set the “show layout:” field to No under the Options command. Then, execute the Format Running-head command and set the “position:” field to None.
