Word: Removing Footnote Separators PSS ID Number: Q46403 Article last modified on 03-04-1993 PSS database name: M_WorD

MACINTOSH

Summary:

To remove the footnote separator (or footnote continuation separator) from a Word 4.00 document, you must replace it with at least one character (for example, a space).

If you do not want the extra blank line to appear between your text and your footnotes when you replace the separator with a space, select everything in the separator window and apply Hidden Text formatting (or -1 pt line spacing).

This restriction exists to prevent problems with empty text areas in Page View.

Additional information on footnotes and separators is available in the “Reference to Microsoft Word” manual on pages 63-67.
