SUMMARY
The message “Style sheet is not available” is received when loading Word versions 4.00n and 5.00 on a Novell network if the Novell SEARCH privilege is not included in your effective rights for the directory in which you start Word, even though a style sheet exists in that directory. However, subsequently choosing the Format Stylesheet Attach command and selecting the name of the appropriate style sheet successfully attaches the style sheet to your document.
Note: This message occurs even if you have performed all necessary steps for installing Word 4.00n or 5.00 on the Novell network. With Word 5.00, these procedures include directing the MSWNET environment variable to the user’s start-up directory path, and using the Word/N switch when starting Word from a particular user directory for the first time.
You should have all rights, with the exception of the parental right, in your user start-up directory and other destination directories.

The following rights may be granted or revoked on a Novell network by assigning or deleting “Trustee Rights” that control your ability to work in a directory and its files. With Novell version 2.10 or later, the SYSCON menu utility is used by the system administrator to make these assignments.

In addition, rights may be added to, or deleted from, a directory’s “Maximum Rights Mask” to control the rights of all users, except those of the supervisor, in a given directory. These are the same eight rights that apply to trustee security. With Novell version 2.10 or later, the FILER menu utility is used to make these assignments.
“Effective rights” are the actual rights of a user, and are determined by the combination of trustee and directory security rights listed above.
The following example shows how trustee rights and directory rights are combined to determine effective rights. The bottom line represents the rights you, as a user, actually have in a particular directory, given the assignments in the first two lines.
