SUMMARY
The INS and DEL keys may not behave properly on a computer with an enhanced (101 key) keyboard and an IRMA2 board (IBM 3270 workstation emulator). Text copied to the scrap with the DEL key may be inserted multiple times when you use the INS key to insert the contents of the scrap into your document.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 4.0 and 5.0. This problem was corrected in Word version 5.5.

The following are possible workarounds:
- Specify a standard 84-key keyboard instead of an enhanced 101-key keyboard when configuring the IRMA2 board with the E78GEN configuration program provided with the IRMA2 board.
- Try starting Word with the /k switch, by typing “word/k” (without the quotation marks). This procedure is recommended whenever you have an enhanced keyboard or use terminate-and-stay-resident (TSR) programs with Word.
- In Word 5.0, select option 5, “Safe keyboard support for TSRs, 3270 emulators,” when installing Word with the Setup program. This procedure installs a special keyboard driver, BIOSSAFE.KBD, which may resolve enhanced keyboard problems.
