Summary:

To create a hyphen that does not break at the end of a line (such as in a phone number) in Word for Windows, hold down the CTRL+SHIFT key combination and press the hyphen (-) key.

The nonbreaking hyphen appears to be longer than a normal hyphen on the screen; however, when printed it appears as a normal hyphen.
