SUMMARY

There is an apparent conflict between Microsoft Word for DOS version 5.0’s support of the IBM 8514/A video adapter and the use of expanded memory when PS2EMM.SYS memory manager is used.

PS2EMM.SYS is an expanded memory manager supplied with Microsoft Windows/286 for the IBM PS/2 Model 50, 50Z, or 60 computers, which use the IBM 80286 Memory Expansion Option.

Problems that may occur with this configuration include Word locking at random times and screen corruption.

To work around these problems, you may need to use the /p switch on the PS2EMM.SYS device line to remap the EMM page frame for PS2EMM.SYS with the 8514/A installed.
