Table Attributes Can't Be Assigned to a Style

Article ID: Q44855
Creation Date: 24-MAY-1989
Revision Date: 09-SEP-1996 The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 4.0, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0

SUMMARY

Word does not insert table attributes, such as number of columns or rows, or table height and width, into a Style.

CAUSE

This limitation occurs because a Style is paragraph specific, and a single table can be composed of many paragraphs.

WORKAROUND

One alternative is placing a sample table into an AutoText entry (glossary, in versions prior to Word 6.0). This AutoText item can then be added to the Work menu through Edit Commands.
