SYMPTOMS
The versions of Microsoft Project listed above except only resource maximum units that are whole numbers. If you want to limit the availability of resources, you must change the Resource Calendar (Options Resource Calendar) settings to reflect the effective availability of the resources.
STATUS
This problem does not occur in later versions of Microsoft Project. You can use decimal precision.
WORKAROUND
If you want the maximum amount of a resource that can be allocated to be a fractional amount, you can increase the “Max Units” available field to the next available whole number and change the Resource Calendar to limit the resource availability. Therefore, if you want to have only 3.25 maximum resource units available, enter the “Max Units” as 4 and adjust the Calendar setting to limit the resource availability. For example, if you have a 1-day (8-hour) task and want 3.25 units available, set each resource’s total available hours to 6.50 (8:00 AM to 11:15 AM and 1:00 PM to 4:15 PM).
