The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project for Windows, versions 1.0, 3.0, 3.0a, 4.0 - Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, versions 1.1, 3.0, 4.0

When using the pull-down list boxes to enter text into fields (such as a field name in Table Define Table) in Microsoft Project for Windows, you can choose an entry in two ways:

  1. Use the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys (or LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW, respectively) to highlight your choice.
  2. Accelerate the process by pressing the first letter of the field name of choice. However, after pressing this accelerator key, the first list choice with the associated letter as its first letter is selected, but not entered. Furthermore, the accelerator key is entered into the text box as if you were typing the name of the selection. If you press the ENTER key at this point, you receive an error message stating that the letter does not exist or is not correct. Instead of pressing the ENTER key at this point, press F4, or ALT+DOWN ARROW, or click the selection with the mouse to enter the highlighted selection.
