File: Unable to Open Sampler File

Last reviewed: October 27, 1994
Article ID: Q44553

Summary:

If you double-click one of the Sampler Template Forms in the Sampler Folder sent with Microsoft File version 2.00, File will display a dialog box that prompts "Please find datafile <filename> Datafile."

The files in the Sampler Folder are simply forms; a data file must be opened first, then one of the template forms. If information has not yet been entered into a data file (that is, if a data file doesn't already exist), do the following to open a template form:

  1. Double-click the Microsoft File icon.
  2. Name the new datafile and click New.
  3. From the File menu, choose Open Form.
  4. Locate and open the desired template form.
  5. Close the form and enter data into the data file.

If the data to be used in the Form is already entered in a data file, do the following to open the desired template form:

  1. Open the data file that contains the desired data.
  2. From the Form menu, choose Show Form.
  3. From the File menu, choose Open Form.
  4. Locate and open the desired Template Form.

The data in the data file will now be displayed as specified by the template form.
