SYMPTOMS

When you create or edit a dual-pane view in Microsoft Project, dual-pane (combination) views are listed as options to be displayed in the top or bottom pane of a dual pane. Therefore, selecting a dual pane results in a nested dual-pane view. Attempts to Set (use) this view result in the following error message:

Combination view <view> cannot be used as one pane of a new combination view

Microsoft Project version 1.0:

Parent/Child views cannot be nested

CAUSE

Microsoft Project does not check for nested views when they are created, only when they are set.
