Hard Page Break before Running Head Is Illegal

SUMMARY

A hard page break or column break before a running head causes the running head to be ignored and a blank page to print out. The running head is a page format, and when preceded by a page break, form together one paragraph of which the page break character takes precedence.

If the running head is placed before the hard page or column break, then it will print out correctly on the next page.

Since the division break character is a paragraph in itself, this problem does not occur if running heads follow a division break.
