Printer Driver Won’t Release until Transfer Clear All

SUMMARY
Microsoft Word for DOS version 5.0 does not release control of a printer driver until a you run the Transfer Clear All command.
The following is an example:
- Start Word.
- Set your “printer:” field of Print Options to access a printer driver on a network server.
- Go back into Print Options and delete the “printer:” field contents.
- Have another person on the network attempt to delete the printer driver; he or she receives an access error message. Word does not relinquish control of that printer driver until a Transfer Clear All is performed.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word 5.0. This problem was corrected in Word version 5.5.
