Find/Change Not Flagging All Occurances

PSS ID Number: Q43976 Article last modified on 03-07-1997

====================================================================== 4.00 MACINTOSH kbusage kbprb SUMMARY ======= ———————————————————————- The information in this article applies to:

  • == Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 4.0 ==

If Word version 4.00 does not find all occurrences of text when using the Find or Change commands, make sure the Whole Word option is not selected. If it is not selected (unchecked) and the problem still occurs, select the option, and then deselect it.

This problem can occur if there is a special character in the Find What box and the Whole Word option is selected when the Find or Change dialog box is closed. When the dialog box is reopened, this option will appear unchecked, even though it is still on, and it will affect any search or replace procedures.

Examples of special characters that cause this problem include the plus sign (+), dollar sign ($), and characters created by holding down the OPTION key and typing another key (for example, bullet).
