Excel: GET.WINDOW(1,"file") Returns #VALUE! If "file" Not Open

Last reviewed: October 31, 1994
Article ID: Q43842

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel versions 2.20 and 3.00, the GET.WINDOW command returns #VALUE! if the indicated file is not currently open. This is different from Microsoft Excel 1.50, which returned a value of 0 (zero) if the file was not open.

For example, in Excel 2.20 and 3.00, GET.WINDOW(1,"File1") will return #VALUE! if there is no document named "File1" currently opened.

In Excel 1.50, GET.WINDOW(1,"File1") will return the value 0 (zero) if there is no document named "File1" currently opened.
