The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, version 2.0

If an end-of-sentence mark (a period, a question mark, or an exclamation point) followed by only one space is found while checking the spelling of a Microsoft Works version 2.0 Word Processor document, Works displays an “Unknown” box in the Correct Spelling dialog box. This dialog box is displayed when the Two Spaces After Period option is selected in the Options dialog box of the Spell menu.

Only the end-of-sentence mark will be visible in the “Unknown” box because Works does not display invisible characters such as spaces.

In the above situation, click the Add button to add both of these characters as a word to the dictionary. Further encounters with these characters followed by only one space will result in a repeat of the above situation.

Please see page 125 of the “Using Microsoft Works” version 2.0 manual for more information about the spelling checker feature in Works.
