SUMMARY

A word flagged by the spelling checker may not be displayed entirely in the spelling checker text window.

This problem occurs most often when Options “show line breaks:” is set to Yes and the text of the document is formatted for a small font. If the flagged word is near the end of a line, the spelling checker will only highlight the portion of the word that appears in the spelling checker text window.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 5.0 and 5.5. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Although the word is partially highlighted in the spelling checker text window, the spelling checker does show the entire flagged word in its diagnostic window.
