Word: “Print Selection Only” Dimmed with Table Selection

PSS ID Number: Q43315 Article last modified on 03-07-1997

====================================================================== 4.00 5.00 5.10 MACINTOSH kbusage

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0, 5.0, 5.1

SYMPTOMS

If you select a portion of a table, the Print Selection Only option in the Print dialog box (on the File menu) may be unavailable.

WORKAROUND

To print only a portion of a table, you must select entire rows (by double-clicking the selection bar of the first cell in a row) or the entire table (by OPTION+double-clicking anywhere in the table). The Print Selection Only option then will be accessible in the Print dialog box.

Note: Dragging the mouse to highlight the entire row won’t enable the print selection option, even though dragging apparently highlights the same area as described above.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
