SUMMARY

In the Microsoft Works Communications module, information cannot arrive at a baud rate faster than approximately 1200 bits per second. Works will not receive information faster if a faster baud rate is used by the modem.

This is a recognized limitation of Works when used in a text capture or display mode and reflects the effective text-throughput speed of the Works Communications module.

When a file is received or sent with a protocol (either XMODEM, XMODEM Text, or MacBinary), the throughput will be much faster. Generally, when using a protocol, the speed of data transmission will approach the maximum throughput possible between sender and receiver.
