MS-DOS

SUMMARY

When using Microsoft Word for DOS version 5.0 or 5.5 to capture a graphics screen (such as, Word in graphics mode) after you press SHIFT+PRINT SCREEN to invoke capture, it appears that nothing happens. Pressing SHIFT+PRINT SCREEN twice, followed by pressing ENTER, causes the system to lock.

Please note that this problem occurs only if you use a Hercules graphics card and you configure Capture/s under the following conditions:

  1. The Enable Clipping option is selected.
  2. The display type is number “5.”

If these conditions exist, your system locks up. You must cold boot your system.

You can avoid this problem by pressing SHIFT+PRINT SCREEN only once. Wait for the program to complete. If you press SHIFT+PRINT SCREEN a second time, you can also press ESC to escape out of the second capture routine.
