The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0, 5.0

SUMMARY

The following situations are recognized limitations with tables in versions 4.0 and 5.0 of Microsoft Word for the Macintosh:

  1. Hidden text in a table will not print if the Print Hidden Text option is turned off in the Print dialog box; however, the space for the entire table will be printed.
  2. Hidden text in a table will not display in galley, page view, or print preview if Show Hidden Text is turned off in the Preferences dialog box (from the Edit menu). However, the entire space occupied by the table will always be displayed (including gridlines if Show Table Gridlines is selected from the Preferences dialog box or Show Paragraphs is chosen from the Edit menu).

To work around this situation, do one of the following:

  1. Delete the table or rows of the table that you do not want to display and/or print.
  2. Select the table (or just the hidden rows) and choose the Table To Text command from the Document menu to remove the table formatting.

Microsoft is researching these problems and will post new information here as it becomes available.
