The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 2.0 and 3.0

SUMMARY

The Spread Text feature in the draw layer of Microsoft Works version 2.0 or 3.0 spreads text clockwise around an arc. Therefore, the text can sometimes appear backwards.

To work around this problem, do the following:

  1. Type the text backwards.
  2. Copy or cut the text.
  3. Draw the arc with an invisible line.
  4. From the Format menu, choose Spread Text.

For example, for the text “This is a test” to appear correctly when it is intended to be read on an arc in a clockwise manner, type it as follows:

tset a si sihT

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur in Microsoft Works 4.0 because version 4.0 includes the Microsoft OLE application WordArt, which offers a variety of shapes, colors, and effects to customize the text.
