Frame Positioning Reset to Default

PSS ID Number: Q42244 Article last modified on 11-02-1994

MS-DOS

SUMMARY

If a Word Version 5.00 document that contains absolutely positioned objects is loaded into Word Version 4.00 and saved in Word Version 4.00, the frame positioning of the absolutely positioned objects will be reset to its default value of Left and Inline for horizontal and vertical, respectively. This becomes apparent when the file is loaded back into Word Version 5.00.

The file format for Word Version 4.00 does not understand the Word Version 5.00 file format pertaining to frame positioning of absolutely positioned objects. As a result, the frame positioning information is lost when the Word Version 5.00 file is loaded into Word Version 4.00 and saved in Word Version 4.00. Once the file in reloaded into Word Version 5.00, the frame positioning can be reassigned via manual formatting or style-sheet formatting.
