The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0, 5.0, and 5.1

SUMMARY

The Paradise Software (SoftStyle) printer driver for the Hewlett-Packard (HP) PaintJet has a number of difficulties placing text properly when operated from Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, including the following:

  1. Sentences with mixed-character formats (including font and font size) may be printed with words jumbled together.
  2. Superscript and subscript may appear far away from their intended location.
  3. Multiple-page documents may not print in their entirety, and Word may hang when trying to print them.
  4. Graphics may not print in Draft mode.

You may be able to work around the first three problems by using the Times font instead of New York, or by turning off Font Substitution (in the Page Setup dialog box on the File menu).

Paradise Software has confirmed that this is a problem with the printer driver and not with Microsoft Word.

Note: Paradise Software is no longer in business and doesn’t have a support telephone number.
