SUMMARY
It has been reported that if the parity settings between the connecting PC and CompuServe are not the same, the connection to CompuServe will be made, but uploading or downloading using Send Protocol and Receive Protocol (X-MODEM protocol) will not work correctly. These options will not be highlighted in the Transfer menu.
These options are not available if you ignore a “Parity Error” message when connecting. Some old CompuServe accounts were set up with 7 Databits and Even Parity instead of the now standard 8 Databits and No Parity. Eight Databits are required to use X-Modem Protocol.
