SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, you can use the ruler to adjust column widths and locations. If you view your ruler with the table scale active, you can hold down the SHIFT key and drag the column markers to adjust them without affecting all the column markers to the right of the one you are adjusting. However, you cannot adjust the table’s left-indent marker without affecting all column markers, even if you hold the SHIFT key down.

This behavior is by program design.
